Aerial Robotics – Swarm of multirotors interact with humans

The engineering students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, working in the Aerospace Robotics and Control Laboratory are doing some interesting experiments using commercially available Blade Nano QX quadcopters.  Check out the video to see how they are controlling them with hand gestures, programming them for coordinated flight and even using senors to enable to multirotors to avoid humans.  Will we be ditching our gimbal based controllers for gestures to control our RC aircraft in the future?   Maybe if the students and faculty at UNI Urbana-Champaign have anything to say about it.
