Welcome to Fly RC Magazine!

We at FLY RC Magazine welcome you to our debut issue! RC airplanes are improving in quality, technology and performance at spellbinding speed—it’s a new era and many more people are having fun in RC than ever before.

Our mission is to bring you the best coverage of the latest RC products and techniques in this rapidly evolving sport. Every issue includes half a dozen reviews of schoolyard and park flyers for those who are getting started or who enjoy the simple, affordable fun these ships provide. A second group of reviews focuses on the most exciting new aircraft flown at RC club fields. And don’t miss our special features, how-to articles and free pullout building plans.

A few highlights from this issue: the ready-tofly Firebird Outlaw, pg. 62, can be reliably flown for 10-minute sorties by an absolute newcomer— and like an RC car, uses just two control inputs: power and steering. At the other end of the scale, the electric powered 11-pound Hacker-modified Funtana, pg. 16, can fly aggressive 3D aerobatics for over ten minutes—or cruise around the pea patch for over half an hour on a single battery charge! Looking for a rock-solid, readyto- fly .40-size trainer? Hangar 9’s Alpha Trainer, pg. 88, could have your name on it. Want to fly 3D maneuvers like a world-class pilot? The Great Planes U-Can-Do .46 ARF, pg. 78, may just be your next buy. There’s much more to discover in this issue!

FLY RC Magazine is committed to support the growth of the hobby by supporting its many constituents. These include the hobby retail stores, the Academy of Model Aeronautics, which has overseen and safeguarded RC aviation for so many years, the major tradeshows (and there are now several), the new RC TV shows, and most importantly, our readers, from youngsters to adults, whose enthusiasm we share and who make it all happen.

FLY RC Magazine is your magazine. We invite you to let us know your interests, what you think of our debut issue and the topics you would like to see us cover—just email us at editors@flyrcmag.com and let us know your thoughts! We want to hear from you!

Loops and rolls,
